!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I’ve been watching the multitude of Integra Type R and BMW E39 M5 listings on Bring a Trailer just for fun. Its entertaing to watch the discussions and bidding. One of the latest ones I was watching is a very rough example of an ITR but certainly better than many of the Craigslist “I know what I got” listings Ive seen. This one sold for under $6k and I’m sure they can have a well sorted, low mileage car for under $10k. Definitely hoping to bid on one some day!

Great buy - sadly I am much too scared to own one of these in CA, would be stolen if parked anywhere suspect.

“very rough” is putting it mildly.

strong disagree.
everything that makes a genuine ITR better than just any old GSR was broken, missing, or replaced on this one.
needs paint, ok, paint a GSR
needs a dozen random engine parts and its not evne the original engine, ok, swap an ITR engine into a GSR.

I strongly desire the black/red seats though.
....even if they are exactly the same design as the even the LS integra seats just with different fabric

That thing needs a lot of work.

Well certainly, but the guy did drive it 1200 miles without issue. It cant be that bad!

I mean, its all relative. I dont know the car well enough to really know what a “rough” example is. I just know I’ve seen worse on craigslist for much more money.

Wait, it doesnt have a Type R engine in it?? Maybe thats why it sold so low lol. I thought the whole currently located in Canada thing would be the biggest issue.

The ‘97 that ended around the same time was a much much better buy.
I nearly bid on an ITR on BaT a while back...until I realized I couldn’t treat it the same way as I would a Miata. At least I could street-park the Miata without fear.

If parked anywhere, period. A former coworker had his nice ‘95 jacked from in front of his house in a nice neighborhood, and a buddy with an ITR keeps it under lock and key in his garage, never drives it.

Yeah, I guess street parking would be the scariest part. I wonder if its possible to actually make them unstealable. Maybe thats impossible.. Shame really!

Listing mentions a poor quality respray, bodged underbody repair, CEL, ABS light, airbag light, missing portions of the wiring harness, seller mentions it has a high idle, panel gaps are horrible, and it looks like a $1k car if it wasn’t a ITR. Sure the buyer got an ITR for $5.5k but it needs $5k+ of work.

it has a b18c5, which is an ITR engine, but now you are buying the non-original engine, and potential issue. do the swap yourself and have piece of mind

If I bring one over from Japan in 2021 or so, I’ll keep it locked in my garage, and probably on jackstands with the wheels kept inside my house.

If jaguar neighbor dude can street park his car every day, so can you

Why not just keep your bedroom inside the car? Or enlist a private security firm to watch the car 24/7.

Yeah but well sorted ITRs definitely go for more than $10k and will likely continue to appreciate in value. I imagine if someone really knew what they were doing and wanted a project, they could accomplish it for less than $5k.
